Mick Jagger Calls for Drug Legalization

In a very interesting interview segment with CNN's Larry King, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger says that governments should consider testing the legalization of all drugs as a way to combat drug market violence.

  1. Try it in a small space? OK. Amsterdam. Portugal. California.

Amsterdam decriminalized and practically legalized marijuana, and saw positive effects.

Portugal legalized all drugs and has seen usage rates decline across the board.

California legalized medical marijuana some 14 years ago and collects millions in taxes from legal sales. Crime rates, predicted by some to soar, are lower around cannabis dispensaries than banks and liquor stores.

The drug war is a much bigger problem than drugs ever were or will be.

  2. Willie Nelson admits he performs on stage after smoking marijuana. Then he also told Larry King he had smoked some before that very interview!

I would still like to see Paul McCartney as a LEAP promoter/speaker.
